There not have been any reports on the specifics of Diaz’s contract.M any Miami football fans have speculated that Diaz could still be a long-term replacement for Richt when he chooses to retire.

At just 58 years of age, it’s far to early to speculate on a successor for Richt. Diaz hasn’t even officially accepted the Temple Head Coaching job yet. The bigger and far more immediate concern for Miami is who will replace Diaz as the Hurricanes Defensive Coordinator.

Miami has a few options. The Hurricanes can promote someone from within their current coaching staff or go outside the program for another coordinator or position coach looking to step up.

With the early signing date for National Letters of Intent next week the timing for Miami is difficult but critical. The Hurricanes also have the Pinstripe Bowl against Wisconsin looming in two weeks. Several Miami Hurricanes defensive recruits have already reiterated their commitment to Miami despite Diaz’s decision.
