Miami football will be well represented in NFL Wildcard round
Hurns has not been much of a factor this season for the Cowboys. He has career lows with 20 receptions on 35 targets for 295 yards and a record low tying two touchdowns. Hurns had two receptions for 22 yards in the Cowboys 24-13 loss at Seattle in week three. This time the game is at AT&T Stadium, Dallas’ homefield.
Hurns wore number 88 during his four seasons with the Jaguars. He changed to 17 after joining the Cowboys this season. Hurns spoke to ESPN in December about meeting with the Parkland shooting victims families.
"“The hardest part of it was going down there and meeting with the families and hearing their stories,…There’s some things that give them some hope. Me wearing the jersey. Them having rallies. Things like that mean a lot.”"

Hurns is projected to start at wide receiver opposite Cole Beasley and Dallas’ big midseason acquisition from Oakland, Amari Cooper according to the Cowboys depth chart. Beasley was second, Cooper third despite only playing in nine games with Dallas and Hurns seventh on the Cowboys in receptions in 2018.
The Chargers at the Ravens is the Wildcard game that former Miami football players will have the biggest impact. Former Miami running back Gus Edwards who finished his college career at Rutgers has become the Ravens starter at running back over the last six games of the 2018 season.
Edwards had three 100-yard games and another with over 90 yards and two touchdowns in 2018. That matched his total with the Hurricanes. Edwards had one more 100-yard game with Rutgers.
