Bama Hammer reported on Enos’ unexpected decision to leave

the Heart of Dixie and take his coaching talents to South Beach.

"“One change was not expected. There are strong indications the exit of Dan Enos was not part of Nick’s plan. Enos rumors are rampant. One is Enos emptied his office of all personal belongings before anyone, including Saban, knew he was leaving. Another rumor, stunning if true, is Enos and Jalen Hurts did not have a strong relationship.”"

Bama Hammer continued that Enos might also have left because there was a chance that he was not going to be promoted to Offensive Coordinator. That goes against several local reports in Alabama and nationally that Enos was or at least was going to be promoted to Co-Offensive Coordinator to replace Locksley.

The other report that contradicts Bama Hammer’s account of Enos’ departure is that he had a poor relationship with Alabama Quarterback Jalen Hurts. Most of the national reports surrounding Hurts’ entrance into the NCAA Transfer Portal state that he stayed for the 2018 season because of his close relationship with Enos.

Alabama also lost Co-Offensive Coordinator Josh Gattis to Michigan. Some of the information contradicts what Saban said about Enos in November.

"“Our guys have done a pretty good job of that, but I think Dan has really helped them understand exactly what the expectation is on every play. And that comes through really good teaching and preparation through the course of the week."

It’s hard to know what Saban truly thinks of Enos. He is notoriously a difficult Head Coach to work for. It should be no surprise that Saban was the Defensive Coordinator for four seasons with the Cleveland Browns in the 1990s.

Saban’s final three seasons in the Dawg Pound were under Bill Belichick. The two reportedly remain close.
