are playing heavy minutes. Six Hurricanes average at least 23 minutes per game. That compares to only four on UNC playing that many.

After Miami’s miracle in Chapel Hill to match the miracle in Durham seven miles away and 2.5 years earlier, North Carolina defeated third-seeded Miami 82-65 in the ACC Tournament. It was the second year in a row that the Tar Heels eliminated the Hurricanes from the conference tournament.

The Hurricanes have won six of the last eight against North Carolina and five of the last seven games played in the regular season. That has evened out the Tar Heels Heels decisive advantage against Miami.

Before Miami’s exceptional stretch against North Carolina, the Tar Heels had won ten straight games against the Miami Basketball team and 20 of their first 22 meetings. Miami’s tough beginning to the ACC schedule will continue on Thursday when the Hurricanes travel to Syracuse.

The brutal schedule continues into February before they get to start playing some of the other teams towards the bottom of the ACC. The game against North Carolina begins a five-game stretch of playing four ranked teams. The exception is the visit to the Carrier Dome.
