Women’s Miami basketball hosts FGCU to begin NCAA Tournament

The Hurricanes dynamic duo combined to go 21-31 from the floor. If Miami is going to advance to Portland they need more production from the perimeter and complementary players.

Florida Gulf Coast enters the NCAA Tournament with a 19 game winning streak. The Eagles have not lost since Liberty defeated them in the Atlantic Sun opener on January 5. The Eagles other three losses were to NCAA Tournament teams South Dakotas State and Stanford, plus UAB.

FGCU is led by Junior guard/forward Nasrin Ulel who paces the team with 14.9 points per game. Miami should dominate the game on the board. The Hurricanes should dominate the game on the boards. Tytionia Adderly leads the Eagles with 8.7 rebounds per game, but she is only 5’10.

The Eagles are making their fifth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last six years, including their third in a row. Miami cannot take Florida Gulf Coast lightly. The Eagles have won first-round games in two of their last three NCAA Appearances. The lone first-round loss was to Miami in 2017.
