Several Miami football alums call out players after loss to Georgia Tech
A lot more goes into who plays on Saturday than what fans see. Too many things happened on Saturday that was out of the coaches’ control. The coaching staff has to take some blame, but the losses to Virginia Tech two weeks ago and Georgia Tech on Saturday was on the entire Miami football team.
It is tough to understand not playing Sam Brooks when a walk-on who played defensive back at Arkansas State before joining the Miami football program, replaced Pinckney at linebacker. If Brooks did not know the playbook or understand where he is supposed to be than Manny Diaz should have said that.
Instead, Diaz stated that WILL and MIKE linebacker are different positions. In the past, Diaz has said that the positions in the defensive system for Miami are different. There should be a lot of self-examination this week by the Miami coaching staff and the players. There is a lot going on that is costing the Hurricanes in games.
Miami has lost four games by a combined 21 points. The Hurricanes two FBS wins this season are by 13 points combined. Miami has been close. Change a few things and those losses are wins. That won’t be good enough for some fans. That doesn’t matter. At this point, Diaz needs to get his players to focus together as a team.
