Miami football week 1 opponent Crimson Tide named overrated by Alabama website
The most prominent news site in Alabama, AL.Com, stated that Alabama might be overrated in an article published on Friday. The Miami football team plays Alabama in its season opener on September 4 in Atlanta. Alabama is without a doubt overrated according to AL.Com after the USA Today Coaches Poll was released on August 10.
Alabama is ranked number one in both the Coaches Poll and the AP Media Poll that was released on Monday. The Miami football team is opening its season against the top-ranked team for the first time since 1988. The 1988 Miami football team was the defending National Champion. Miami crushed Florida State in the 1988 opener 31-0.
Alabama has 12 returning starters in 2021, nine on defense and three on offense. Miami returns 19 starters in 2021, 10 on offense and nine on defense. The Hurricanes lost tight end Brevin Jordan from its offense and defense ends Jaelan Phillips and Quincy Roche from the defense. Quarterback D’Eriq King leads returnees.
Miami could have one of the best chances to defeat Alabama during the 2021 season by playing them in week one. The Hurricanes are a consensus 18.5 point underdog in week one to the Crimson Tide. Joseph Goodman of AL.Com has doubt about Alabama being the number one ranked team to begin the 2021 season.
