One of the most oft-mentioned names to become the next Miami head coach if Diaz is fired has been Oregon boss and former Hurricanes offensive lineman Mario Cristobal. If the Miami football program was to try and lure Cristobal back to Coral Gables the

estimation

is that it would cost the Hurricanes $50 million.

A potential candidate to become the next Miami football coach could be Oregon offensive coordinator and QBs coach Joe Moorhead. Moorhead was 14-12 as the head coach at Mississippi State in 2018 and 2019. Moorhead also went 38-13 in four seasons at Fordham. Moorhead led the Rams to three FCS playoff appearances.

The Ducks have the 25th ranked scoring offense in the country averaging 35.8 points per game. Oregon is 54th in total offense averaging 421.1 yards per game. Morehead is credited with four four-star signees for Oregon in the last two years. Morehead signed the nation’s 24th ranked class with Mississippi State in 2019.

The 2019 season was the only year that Moorhead had a chance to sign a full class with the Bulldogs. Moorhead was 7-9 in the SEC in two seasons. For a first-time Power Five coach in the SEC, that’s competitive. Prior to Mississippi State, Morehead was the offensive coordinator and QB coach at Penn State in 2016 and 2017.
