Four-star running back Kevin Riley is the 12th commitment to the 2024 Miami football class with his announcement on Monday night. Riley committed to Miami after taking his official visit to Coral Gables this weekend. Riley is the 81st prospect, sixth RB and seventh player in Alabama in the 2024 Class.

Riley is the second RB committed to the 2024 Miami class. Three-star RB Chris Wheatley-Humphrey previously committed to Miami. Mario Cristobal and new RB coach Tim Harris Jr. are building a deep group at the position for the future. Miami signed four-star RBs Mark Fletcher and Chris Johnson in the 2023 class.

Riley becomes the highest-rated 2024 Miami football commit ahead of four-star WR Chance Robinson. Miami moves from the 29th highest-rated 2024 class in the 247 Sports composite rankings to 23rd. Four-star TE Elija Lofton from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman is the other blue-chip commit to the 2024 Miami class.

Miami has five four-star RBs on the 2023 roster. In addition to Fletcher and Johnson Miami has Tre’Vonte Citizen, Don Chaney Jr. and Henry Parrish on the roster who were four-star signees out of high school. Chaney Jr. and Parrish are eligible for the 2024 NFL Draft. Miami is pushing for one of the best RB units nationally.

It was impressive for Cristobal and Harris to close with Riley. Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi were the other schools Riley was considering most in addition to Miami per On3. Going into Alabama’s home county and gaining a commitment from Riley is a big commitment for Miami.

Riley ran for 1,306 yards and 11 touchdowns on 203 carries during his 2022 junior season and added 18 receptions for 182 yards and three TDs per David Wilson of the Miami Herald. Expect Miami to add more commitments over the next few weeks. This weekend is the last for official visitors in June.

Next. Miami has important development year at quarterback. dark

Miami has the sixth-best class in the ACC. Only Clemson and Florida State with 11 commitments are ahead of Miami in the ACC with fewer commitments. Miami is hosting 18 prospects in the next week. That group will be led by five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith who is currently committed to Ohio State.
