Four‑star small forward Kevin Thomas, a 2026 recruit from Sagemont’s Montverde Academy in Florida, officially plans to visit the University of Miami for an official visit from September 27–29.

Thomas, a 6‑foot‑7, 190‑pound wing, is rated as the No. 74 overall recruit nationally, the No. 31 small forward, and No. 15 in Florida in the composite 247Sports 2026 rankings. He has also lined up official visits with Florida State (August 27–29) and Auburn (October 18), positioning Miami among his top choices.

On the AAU circuit, Thomas plays with SOH Elite (Under Armour), where over 13 games at the Miami Summer Hoops Festival he averaged about 11.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and had 18 steals.

Miami’s interest in Thomas comes as coach Jai Lucas builds his first recruiting class (with an entire year of high school recruiting for the Hurricanes) at Miami with an emphasis on keeping talent from moving out of South Florida. Thomas fits that mold and is exactly a player Lucas would like to snag. He joins a growing group of high-profile off-visit prospects in Coral Gables, part of a recruitment wave that includes several elite in-state and regional targets.

Looking at the Class of 2025, Lucas got to work quickly and has shown the ability to have success from the international recruiting side. The 2025 commits include 4-stars Shelton Henderson, Treyvon Maddox and Dante Allen, 3-star John Laboy, and international prospects Tomotej Malovec, Salih Altuntas and Noam Dovrat.

The roster headed into 2025 looks entirely different from the one last year. That is due to Lucas and his skills as a recruiter. The roster — with a starting lineup that is projected — is listed below:

  • PG: Tre Donaldson
  • SG: Tru Washington
  • SF: Shelton Henderson
  • PF: Malik Reneau
  • C: Ernest Udeh Jr.
  • Dante Allen
  • Marcus Allen
  • Tomotej Malovec
  • Jordyn Kee
  • Salih Altuntas
  • John Laboy II
  • Treyvon Maddox
  • Noam Dovrat
