Miami makes final five for 4-Star Michigan TE Anthony Cartwright III
Cartwright is a 6-foot-5, 235-pound tight end from Detroit Country Day in Franklin, Michigan. Rivals ranks him as the No. 16 tight end in the 2027 class, the No. 8 player in Michigan and the No. 316 overall prospect nationally. He is also the No. 1 tight end in Michigan, per that ranking.
247Sports ranks Cartwright as the No. 27 tight end in the class and the No. 9 player in Michigan. The 247Sports Composite ranks him higher at No. 391 nationally, No. 20 among tight ends and No. 8 in Michigan.
Cartwright's decision date will come after a run of official visits that should help shape the final call. He is scheduled to visit Michigan State on May 29, Miami on June 5, Michigan on June 12 and Oregon on June 19.
Mike Viti is entering his first season as Miami's tight ends coach after spending the previous 10 seasons at Army. He was most recently Army's associate head coach and offensive line coach, where his 2024 offensive line led the nation in rushing yards and rushing yards per game.
The Hurricanes return TE Elija Lofton for the 2026 season, and four-star freshmen Gavin Mueller and Israel Briggs joined the roster as part of Miami's 2026 tight end additions.
Miami has nine commitments in the 2027 class, a group headlined by quarterback Israel Abrams, wide receiver Nick Lennear and running back Ty Keys. Cartwright would give the Hurricanes another blue-chip offensive piece and one of the top tight end targets on their board.
