Donte Wright appearing on DJ Jacobs' Instagram story offers hope to Miami fans
Wright has become one of the biggest young recruiters in the Hurricanes' 2027 class, and Jacobs has been one of his targets.
After Wright announced he was shutting down his own recruitment, he tagged Jacobs on X and wrote, "We not stopping @DaviddJacobss LMK SUM FAM."
Miami already landed Wright from Georgia, flipped Ai'King Hall from Oregon, and flipped Jaiden Bryant from LSU. The Hurricanes have been on such a roll in the last month that another flip actually seems possible. If Miami were to pull it off in the near future, the Hurricanes would surely rise to No. 1 in the 2027 football team recruiting rankings across most major sites.
Jacobs committed to Ohio State on Dec. 29, choosing the Buckeyes after Miami had been viewed as one of the major players in the race. 247Sports ranks him as its No. 1 overall player, No. 1 edge rusher and No. 1 player in Georgia. The Rivals Industry Ranking has Jacobs as the No. 4 overall player, No. 1 edge and No. 1 player in Georgia.
In his junior season, Jacobs logged 102 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 16 sacks and two forced fumbles in 2025. Jacobs put up 112 tackles, 35 tackles for loss and 12 sacks as a sophomore in 2024 after he posted 81 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, six sacks and three forced fumbles as a freshman.
The Hurricanes beat the Buckeyes in the College Football Playoff last season, reached the national championship game and have continued building one of the top 2027 classes in the country.
