Kemon Spell had to do a little damage control, but we aren't buying it.
The five-star running back responded to the rumors that he is one of the main targets for the Miami Hurricanes to flip as they continue to work toward a top-ranked recruiting class for the 2027 cycle. Spell said in a social media post that he was solid with his commitment to Georgia.

I'm sure Mario Cristobal will simply move on to the next guy, right? Doubtful. But Spell is doing exactly what he's supposed to do in this situation — deny and move in silence.
Miami will continue to pursue 5-star RB Kemon Spell despite his Georgia commitment
Spell has been committed to Georgia since last November, choosing the Bulldogs over Miami, Penn State and Notre Dame. Miami was rumored to be making a push for Spell during the spring after another top target, Myson Johnson-Cook, turned down the Hurricanes for Auburn, but nothing came of that.

The likely fact is that Miami has stayed in regular contact with Spell for a long time, and they have just been waiting in the weeds to make a big final move. That move probably hasn't been made yet, but there's definitely smoke if all the top recruiting insiders are willing to put their names on a report.
Miami has been a machine with getting flips for this cycle. The Hurricanes have already burned Georgia once by grabbing five-star defensive back Donte Wright when everyone thought he would only leave the Bulldogs to go to Oregon. Then they flipped Al'King Hall from Oregon and convinced five-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant to switch his commitment from LSU to Miami in late June.

Cristobal's record in these kinds of recruiting battles is strong. He has the backing of the Miami machine to do what's necessary to build the program that he believes can deliver multiple championships. Spell's message today about being solid with the Bulldogs might change tomorrow or next week or next month, and Cristobal wants to be ready to pounce if it does.
That goes for five-star edge rusher DJ Jacobs and five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews. Cristobal refuses to close any doors when it comes to recruiting and adding a potential that could be a game changer for the program.
A lot of recruiting at the top level is a waiting game and Cristobal has shown that he can play it with the best of them.
