The Miami Hurricanes are back in the picture with another trench warrior and this is one that Mario Cristobal and defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman don't want to miss out on.
Five-star defensive lineman David Folorunsho has decided to make his commitment announcement on May 15. The Hurricanes are heavily in the mix with Notre Dame, Texas Tech, Michigan and Georgia all among the schools that are battling for the Chicago-area prospect.

5-star DL target David Folorunsho will announce his commitment on May 15
Cristobal and the Hurricanes have been knocked down in recruiting a little bit over the past week, but they refuse to stay down and a commitment from an elite player like Folorunsho is the best way to prove it.
Miami made a huge impression on Folorunsho when he took his first visit to campus a few weeks ago. He told Gaby Urrutia of 247Sports that he had a chance to see Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor up close and working with their former teammates as they prepared for the NFL Draft. Folorunsho also said that his skill set meshes perfectly with what the Hurricanes do on defense.
"I think the main thing is just making me feel like a priority. That's the main thing. I would fit perfectly in their defense," Folorunsho told Urrutia The main thing is how I fit into the defense and how they will use the things I do good in the defense."
Where does Miami's defensive line class stand right now?
The Hurricanes have been very focused on building the offensive line during the early stages of the 2027 recruiting cycle with commitments from four-star prospects Sean Tatum and Tyler Ford. They also remain aggressive in their pursuit of five-star in-state prospect Mark Matthews.
Recruitment on the defensive line is going to pick up in the next few months and bringing Folorunsho into the fold would be a great centerpiece for that group. Miami currently has a commitment from in-state defensive lineman Josh Johnson and should be expected to take at least 3 or 4 defensive linemen in this class. Several more targets will be on campus over the next two months, but Folorunsho is one that Cristobal has to close the deal on.
