Five-star defensive lineman David Folorunsho has narrowed his recruitment to Notre Dame, Georgia, Michigan, Miami and Texas Tech, with a commitment scheduled for May 15. The Chicago St. Patrick standout has become one of the biggest movers in the 2027 cycle after going from an under-the-radar interior prospect to a top-10 national recruit on Rivals' board.

5-star DL David Folorunsho has Miami in final group before May decision
Folorunsho is the No. 9 overall player, No. 2 defensive lineman and No. 1 player in Illinois in the 2027 Rivals rankings. He measures in at 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 79 overall player and No. 7 defensive lineman.
In his junior season, Folorunsho recorded 55 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and five sacks for St. Patrick. Currently Notre Dame, Miami and Texas Tech are leading the way.
The Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Notre Dame. Folorunsho has made multiple trips to South Bend in April, including one with his mother after previously visiting with his high school coach, former Notre Dame star Tom Zbikowski. Former Notre Dame defender Kerry Neal has also trained Folorunsho.
In a way to counter the Notre Dame connection, the Hurricanes are selling the way they play up front and the way they have developed defensive linemen under Mario Cristobal.
In the 2026 NFL Draft, Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor both came off the board in the first round, giving Miami two recent examples of defensive linemen who turned production in Coral Gables into top NFL value.
Texas Tech is the wild card in this race. Folorunsho came away impressed after his visit to Lubbock, and that moved the Red Raiders up his list.
The Red Raiders are No. 2 nationally in the current Rivals Industry team recruiting rankings, behind only Texas A&M, with eight commitments and two five-stars already in the class. Miami is No. 11 nationally and No. 1 in the ACC.
