It is not the disease of me, but rather a much bigger life-changing opportunity on the horizon. With all signs pointing to Miami Hurricanes star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa turning pro after the national championship, Mario Cristobal's team may need to look to replace him in the transfer portal. As it turns out, the best player imaginable just became available in Jordan Seaton out of Colorado.

Of course, he will not come cheap. All signs point to Seaton commanding $2.5 million in the portal...

According to 247Sports, Seaton is the No. 1 offensive tackle prospect currently in the transfer portal, as well as the No. 4 overall prospect in this portal cycle. Prior to spending the last two seasons in Boulder playing for Deion Sanders, Seaton finished up his high school career in-state at the IMG Academy over in Bradenton. He was a five-star recruit coming out of high school in the 2024 cycle.

Miami may have to get a new quarterback in the portal too, but they could have to replace Mauigoa...

Jordan Seaton could be the right guy to replace Francis Mauigoa at Miami

No matter what happens on MLK Day night from inside Hard Rock Stadium vs. a heavily-favored Indiana Hoosiers team, Cristobal has his alma mater's football program undeniably firing on all cylinders. The Canes recruit phenomenally out of high school. They use their expanded financial resources to get the right players for them in the transfer portal. Miami runs like a well-oiled machine.

What is important to understand is that while Miami can try to outspend anyone for seemingly anyone, the Hurricanes cannot afford everyone. The money has to be spread out accordingly in the wonderful world of NIL. For roughly $2.5 million, maybe Seaton is worth it? This would only make sense if Mauigoa is surely off to the NFL, as well as the next quarterback of note does not cost a ton.

So at this time, Miami should very much be in contention to land Seaton in the transfer portal. He will have other suitors, so Miami has to be well aware of that. That being said, Miami being one of the last two teams standing at this stage of the season signifies that the Hurricanes have arrived and are ready to win now. If Seaton prioritizes playing in a championship setting, it is hard to beat Miami today.

For now, we need to sit back, see what happens on Monday, and if Mauigoa does decide to turn pro.
