The new AP Top 25 dropped Sunday afternoon, and for Miami and the ACC it's a bit of a mixed bag. The Hurricanes move into championship week as the highest-ranked team in the conference at No. 12, but the poll shows how crowded the at-large race is with the 12-team College Football Playoff field.

Miami moves up to No. 12 in Week 15 AP Top 25
The Hurricanes move up one spot to No. 12 after shredding then-No. 24 Pitt 38-7 on the road, their fourth straight blowout to close the regular season. Mario Cristobal's team finishes 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the ACC.
The AP voters clearly buy Miami as a top-15 team as they moved ahead of Vanderbilt even after the Commodores won against Tennessee, but the gap between No. 12 and Notre Dame at No. 9 feels inexcusable at this point.
The ACC champion will come from somewhere other than Coral Gables this year, despite being the highest ranked team in the conference. No. 16 Virginia and unranked Duke are headed to Charlotte for the ACC title game after the Cavaliers capped a 10-2 (7-1) season with a 27-7 win over Virginia Tech.
Georgia Tech gives the ACC a third ranked team at No. 24 despite a rivalry loss to Georgia. The Yellow Jackets are 9-3 and hang on near the back of the poll after getting handled by the Bulldogs, who helped their own case near the top.
If Virginia doesn't win the ACC title game, and Miami doesn't sneak into an at-large spot, the ACC could be a no-bid league in the CFP.
The rest of the Week 15 AP Top 25
Ohio State stays at No. 1 after ending its losing streak to Michigan with a 27-9 win in Ann Arbor and heads into the Big Ten title game 12-0. Indiana holds at No. 2, also 12-0, and grabs the remaining first-place votes behind Heisman candidate quarterback Fernando Mendoza. Georgia jumps to No. 3 at 11-1 after beating Georgia Tech, and Oregon climbs to No. 4 with an 11-1 record.
Texas Tech moved up to No. 5 after finishing 11-1 and blasting West Virginia to lock in a Big 12 championship game rematch with No. 11 BYU. Ole Miss holds steady at No. 6, while Texas A&M tumbles from No. 3 to No. 7 after a 27-17 loss to Texas, which jumps to No. 14. Oklahoma rounds out the top eight at 10-2.
Notre Dame is No. 9 alongside No. 10 Alabama. The Crimson Tide survived the Iron Bowl 27-20 behind three touchdown passes from Ty Simpson and now get their shot at No. 3 Georgia in the SEC championship game.
James Madison sits at No. 19 at 11-1, followed by an American trio of North Texas (No. 20), Tulane (No. 21) and Navy (No. 23).
