When it comes to recruiting, you've got to work fast. From the moment it was announced that Syracuse wideout Trebor Pena was going to be entering the transfer portal, the All-ACC talent has been linked with Miami football.
The expectation is that Mario Cristobal is going to work to bring in the speedster so that he can potentially catch balls from Carson Beck next campaign. Let's not jump the gun on that one, though. That's because a Big Ten powerhouse is looking to beat Miami to the punch.
On Friday morning, news broke that Pena is taking an official visit with Penn State. The Nittany Lions are coming off a fantastic 2024 season and James Franklin is hoping for a return trip to the College Football Playoff. This is something he's surely trying to pitch to Pena during his time on campus:

Had 84 catches last year, was an All-ACC selection and ranks as one of the top players in the transfer portal.https://t.co/10Sz3YwNKg pic.twitter.com/7phj3A7Wdc
Priority Miami WR target Trebor Pena is taking a visit with Penn State and James Franklin
Franklin pulling a fast one on Cristobal? That appears to be the case, as Pena indeed is on a visit with the Nittany Lions. Pena is widely considered one of the best wide receivers available in the portal and for good reason. He's coming off a fantastic campaign with Syracuse in 2024.
Last fall, the 6-0, 185-pounder posted 84 receptions for 941 yards and nine touchdowns. He's a stud slot wideout and the kind of player who could completely change things on offense for a program. Fran Brown is clearly upset to lose him, but schools like Penn State and Miami are ready to make a push.
Penn State is the first known visit for Pena, but more are expected to be on the way. Will he end up taking a trip to Coral Gables before making a decision? That's the hope here, but Penn State has unfortunately put itself in a good position by getting him on campus already and selling him on the opportunity to make the move from the ACC to the Big Ten.
