Cam Ward gives high praise to Titans' wide receiver room

Cam Ward’s confidence was on full display to the media when talking about the Titans' wide receiver room. In a clip shared on X, the Tennessee Titans’ No. 1 overall pick said he believes he has a “top-5” receiver room in the NFL.

Tennessee has rebuilt the position around proven veterans and high-upside rookies. The team signed Tyler Lockett in April, pairing him with Calvin Ridley and Van Jefferson. The first unofficial depth chart lists that trio as starters, with rookies Elic Ayomanor (Stanford) and Chimere Dike (Wisconsin/Florida) on the two-deep. Miami’s own Xavier Restrepo, who signed as a rookie free agent, is among the next wave of options battling for roles.

The Titans averaged 18.3 points per game last season (27th in the NFL) and Ward has publicly set a goal of pushing this group toward a top-10 unit, citing the playmakers at receiver as a key reason. The “top-5 WR corps” line is consistent with that framing and came as he began working with the starters in camp.

From a Miami lens, the most intriguing name on the WR list is Restrepo, who finished his UM career as the program’s all-time leader in receptions (200), receiving yards (2,844) and receiving TDs (21). Reuniting with Ward gives Tennessee a ready-made timing partner in the slot during camp and preseason. In the preseason game against the Falcons, Restrepo recorded two receptions for 18 yards.

The early returns on Ward have been encouraging. In his preseason debut, he moved the offense efficiently on an 11-play touchdown drive and flashed timing with Ridley. In the second preseason game, Ward played a smaller role as he went 2-for-7 for 42 yards. It’s a small sample, but his command is apparent and the WR room for the Titans may surprise a lot of people.
