Cam Ward has become the first rookie in Tennessee Titans franchise history to throw for 3,000 passing yards in a season, a milestone the organization has never gotten from a first-year QB dating back to the Oilers era. Ward sits at 3,117 passing yards entering Week 18.

Cam Ward is the franchise QB for the Titans
Even in a 3-13 season that has featured constant turbulence, Ward has still been able to produce at a high level. He is also the first Titans quarterback to top 3,000 yards since Ryan Tannehill in 2021.
For the season, Ward is 320-of-537 passing (59.6%) for 3,117 yards, with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions, plus 148 rushing yards and a rushing TD. The efficiency isn't pretty and his QBR (32.1) and 79.8 passer rating reflect the growing pains, but the Titans have the QB of the future.
Perhaps what is most promising is the fact that Ward has stood tall despite being sacked 55 times, showing a level of leadership that an NFL organization would feel comfortable building around.
So, where is the Rookie of the Year consideration?
Ward opened the year with real Offensive Rookie of the Year juice right after the draft, but now he's basically a long shot, sitting deep down the board behind Carolina Panthers receiver Tetairoa McMillan and New Orleans Saints QB Tyler Shough.
Tennessee is also 3-13 and heading into the final game after the Week 17 loss to New Orleans. That Saints game was a perfect snapshot. Ward threw for 251 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn't enough as the Titans still lost. Also, it didn't help that Shough got the win.
None of this erases what Ward just accomplished in his rookie season. If Tennessee cleans up protection and the organization continues to build around Ward, then the sky is the limit for the Titans with Ward at the helm.
