Nashville radio host Jared Stillman asked Titans quarterback Cam Ward on Thursday how he would assess his preseason. Ward turned it around and asked Stillman to assess it first, to which Stillman said, "not well."
Ward's response: "I'm glad you don't think so. That's good. I assess it as, did we win the game, or did we lose a game? I assess it as what I can get better at. I don't assess it as someone who can get up there and operate when everything's on. It's a different process level. So it's more of slowing down the game to everybody. And I believe we made a huge jump from Week 1 to Week 2 because we're getting more condensed in a playbook. We're not really opening everything up. And, you know, when we come to Week 1, I think it'll be a different story."

Cam Ward's 2026 preseason performance has been criticized
Ward went 13-of-24 for 126 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in two preseason games. He went 5-of-12 for 57 yards against the San Francisco 49ers and 8-of-12 for 69 yards against Seattle backups, with every completion in that second game coming inside 10 yards and all four of his throws of 10-plus air yards incomplete.
Ward sat out Saturday's preseason finale against Chicago while Will Levis and Hendon Hooker played. Tennessee finished the preseason 2-1 and Week 1 for them kicks off against the New York Jets on Sept. 13.
The expectations for Year 2 are high for Cam Ward
The Titans changed the staff around Ward this offseason, hiring Robert Saleh as the head coach and Brian Daboll as the offensive coordinator. Last year it felt like Ward didn't have any help, so this year is about making sure he has the pieces and mentors around him to facilitate progression.
