Cam Ward completed just 5 of 12 passes for 57 yards in Tennessee's 19-13 preseason win over San Francisco, finishing his three drives with a 41.7% completion rate and a 56.6 passer rating. The Titans scored on his opening possession, but Ward and first-round receiver Carnell Tate never connected despite three targets.
One of Ward's attempts to him near the goal line was broken up by 49ers rookie Ephesians Prysock.

Cam Ward falls flat in Titans preseason win over 49ers
Tennessee spent the No. 4 overall pick on Tate specifically to add another weapon around Ward after a difficult rookie season. Tate caught 51 passes for 875 yards and nine touchdowns at Ohio State in 2025, averaging 17.2 yards per reception, and Tennessee made him the second straight top-five pick devoted to building around its young quarterback.
Ward's night wasn't all bad as Tennessee's opening possession covered 95 yards in 11 plays and ended with Tony Pollard's 5-yard touchdown run. Ward converted third downs with an 18-yard completion to Calvin Ridley and a 16-yard completion to Gunnar Helm.
Ward went 3 of 8 for only 23 yards on his final two possessions, and Tennessee gained just 15 net yards across those drives. He missed open receivers and was also flagged for intentional grounding.
Other Miami Hurricanes alumni in the game
There was still plenty for Miami fans to follow after Ward left the game, beginning with WR Xavier Restrepo.
Restrepo caught two of his four targets for 16 yards, including a 6-yard reception from Mitchell Trubisky late in the second quarter and a 10-yard catch from Hendon Hooker in the fourth. Restrepo spent most of his rookie season on Tennessee's practice squad before appearing in two games and catching three passes for 41 yards.
Former Miami safety James Williams Sr. also had a productive night. Williams, who transitioned to linebacker after Tennessee selected him in the seventh round of the 2024 draft, finished with five tackles, tying for the team lead.
K.J. Osborn, who spent the 2019 season at Miami before beginning his NFL career, did not record a reception.
