Miami is on a much-needed bye week after taking down Florida 26-7 last Saturday. The Hurricanes have risen to No. 2 in the AP Poll after a 4-0 start and look like the team to beat in the ACC.
But things won't get easier coming out of the break with the Hurricanes taking on No. 8 Florida State. It's the first road game of the season and quarterback Carson Beck is excited about the challenge of going into Doak Campbell Stadium.

"It's a work week next week. Obviously, we'll start looking at Florida State. We'll fix some of the issues and mishaps that we had in this game, but we'll start looking at Florida State and preparing for them," Beck said. "I'm excited for that matchup. I've never played in that stadium. That's the cool thing about being in the ACC. Now heading into ACC play, I'm playing a lot of different teams I've never played before, getting to play in places I've never played before. So I'm really looking forward to that. I'm really excited."
Channeling the emotions one more time
Miami has already had tense matchups against long-time rivals Notre Dame and Florida, along with an unexpected top-20 game against upstart South Florida. Now the Hurricanes will play arguably their biggest rival in a game that could very well determine the balance of power in the ACC.
Doak Campbell Stadium has not been a friendly spot for the Hurricanes recently. Miami hasn't won in Tallahassee since 2019 and the Seminoles have won three of the past four games overall. But Cristobal isn't focused on the past, whether it's two years ago or last week. It's the type of stick-to-business approach that is beginning to make up the DNA of this team.
"We are starting to understand the importance of pushing away all the noise, all the jumping, because it's never been a part of it. It will never be a part of it," Cristobal said. "And when you watch the tape tomorrow, there's a lot of stuff we need to get better at."
