After some projections had Miami quarterback Carson Beck being taken by the Arizona Cardinals in the second round, he is headed to the desert as a third-round selection, 65th overall. Beck joins an Arizona roster with Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew and Kedon Slovis at QB.
Arizona traded the 2019 top pick in the NFL Draft, Kyler Murray, to Minnesota in the offseason. Beck was the third QB off the board after top pick Fernando Mendoza of Indiana to the Las Vegas Raiders and Ty Simpson of Alabama, 13th to the Los Angeles Rams.
NFL Draft analysts and scouts love Beck's size at 6'4.75, 223 pounds and his experience of six years in college, playing in multiple big games. Beck was the starting QB for Georgia in the 2024 SEC Championship Game and led Miami to three wins in the College Football Playoff during the 2025 season before losing to Indiana in the National Title Game.
Murray and Brissett were the primary QBs for Arizona in 2025. Arizona finished 23rd in points, 19th in total offense, first in pass attempts and passing touchdowns, seventh in passing yards, 13th in interceptions and 26th in net yards gained per pass attempt.
He’s worked his entire life for this moment.⁰

Competing for a starting job
Ian Rappaport of the NFL Network reported during the Draft that Brisset has not participated in offseason workouts and could hold out until he gets a contract extension. Beck should be able to beat out Slovis for a roster spot. Minshew has had moments in his career, but Beck would eventually be the Arizona starter.
It would be difficult to see Beck starting over Minshew based on the experience the latter holds. Beck was drafted into the ideal situation for him with a chance to start. Arizona won three games and lost 14 in 2025 after starting the season with two wins.
