More reports continue to come out on how things ended between Carson Beck and the Georgia Bulldogs. The star signal-caller is now getting ready to make plays for the Miami Hurricanes, but people in Athens are still pretty upset with him for leaving the program.
If you ask Beck's high school coach, those same people have nothing to be mad about. In an interview with Dawgs247's Grant Hughes, Bobby Ramsay said he felt like Beck was blamed for UGA falling short of its goals for the campaign, which wasn't fair at all.
Carson Beck is hoping to win the Heisman Trophy with Miami
"The way it ended, it seemed like he was scapegoated for the season they had," Ramsay said via Hughes. "They don't get back in the Alabama game if he doesn't throw them back into it. They don't beat Tennessee if he doesn't play the way he played. … The drops this year weren't just drops; they were brutal drops. I'm talking 40 yards down the field, game-changing plays, dropped. The Georgia WRs didn't give him a lot of help. When you're dropping balls that flip the field, take points off the board, change the momentum of a game, that's hard to overcome, especially with the schedule they played."
Ramsay went on to add that Beck's goal for the 2024 campaign was to win a natty with the Bulldogs, and also take home the Heisman Trophy honor. Those goals, per Ramsay, remain the same moving forward now that Beck is going to be suiting up for Mario Cristobal.
After he decided to enter the transfer portal, Beck didn't wait long to sign with Miami. However, Georgia still wanted him back, while word got out that Kalen DeBoer and Alabama were also in the mix to try and land him. Beck's mind was made up and he's now focused on getting his elbow back to 100 percent health so can live up to the hype with the Canes in 2025.
