When former Miami quarterback Carson Beck stepped up for his throwing session at Lucas Oil Stadium, he got booed on nearly every rep by a pro-Indiana crowd that clearly showed up with a grudge.

Carson Beck powers through boos at NFL combine
It was a weird look from Indiana fans considering the setting. Combine workouts are usually very quiet, mirroring golf in a way. But the boos rained down on Beck every time. Luckily, he understood the moment, smiled through it on the broadcast and has a good passing session.
Over the last decade the combine has turned into an event that fans go to and are interested in. That simply was not the case 20 years ago. With that, natural fan reaction has become a part of the process. But it usually remains tame, and boos are extremely rare.
Beck and Miami lost 27-21 to Indiana in the College Football Playoff national championship game in January, and Saturday's session took place in Indianapolis, essentially home turf for Hoosiers fans. Some have theorized Indiana fans are still irritated that Beck walked off the field without shaking hands with Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza after the title game. Regardless, it's not like Miami is some sort of rival to Indiana — or Georgia for that matter. There also weren't any sort of comments from Beck prior to the combine that would have set this off either.
Essentially, Indiana fans in the building didn't have the class to hold back. Maybe the NFL will try to prevent something like this from happening in the future, considering that the combine is so important to the future of the young players participating.
Mel Kiper Jr. currently slots Beck as QB5 in his quarterback rankings, behind Fernando Mendoza, Ty Simpson, Drew Allar and Garrett Nussmeier. Todd McShay, meanwhile, has been on record praising Beck's play at Miami during the season.
It should also be noted that Diego Pavia was booed at the Combine this year as well, although it wasn't sustained in the same ways that the boos were for Beck. It might be fair to assume it's because of Pavia's "football persona" but that isn't a reasonable motivation to boo a player at the combine.
