Miami's win over Bethune-Cookman may have gone under the radar as the Hurricanes weren't playing the highest level of opponents, but there was something that happened in that game that shouldn't go unnoticed.
In the game against Bethune-Cookman, Miami quarterback Carson Beck, who was making just his second start for the Hurricanes, is now officially in the record books. To start the game, Beck completed his first 15 passes to break the most consecutive completed passes in a row by a Hurricanes quarterback.
This was not an easy record to break, as it has held since 1986 when Vinny Testaverde had 14 consecutive passes against Oklahoma. Sure, some will say that Beck had an easier opponent than he did against, but it doesn't matter who you are playing; to start the game with 15 consecutive completed passes is impressive.
Beck ended up going 22-for-24 against Bethune-Cookman for 264 yards and two touchdowns, which in itself is a very impressive stat line.
Carson Beck has found another level playing at Miami
Beck was always a good quarterback at Georgia, but it seems he was just never able to reach his full potential with the Bulldogs. Now as a part of the Miami Hurricanes, it seems like Beck is playing more free and has the ability to play the game he wants to play it.
"He keeps getting better and better," head coach Mario Cristobal said about Beck after the game. "I mean, every practice, every week, there’s this continued growth and development, and really, you see an appetite for more; he just wants to get better."
Beck will now have to face yet another ranked opponent as the Hurricanes will face a newly ranked USF Bulls team, who just pulled off an unlikely upset over the Florida Gators in the Swamp in Week 2.
