We knew it wasn't going to be cheap for the Miami Hurricanes to get Carson Beck to sign with the team. With the way NIL deals work these days for players who have entered the transfer portal, a quarterback is always going to get a large chunk of change.
However, did anyone expect this? According to a report from local media outlets in Miami, Beck has agreed to terms on a one-year, $4 million NIL deal to make plays for the Hurricanes in 2025. Beck originally declared for the NFL Draft, but he's waiting to go pro for one last college campaign. With $4 million apparently on the way, can anyone blame him for delaying his NFL call?
Carson Beck reportedly landed a $4 million deal to play for the Miami Hurricanes
At this point last season, star quarterback Cam Ward reportedly brought home around $1.5 million to play for the Canes in 2024. If you ask fans out there, he was worth every penny, as Ward tossed for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns, setting multiple Miami passing records.
The only major bummer from Ward's 'one and done' campaign in Coral Gables was that Miami missed out on winning the ACC title and the team was forced to watch the College Football Playoff from home. It's something plenty of Canes supporters are still ticked off about.
The good news, however, is that Beck signing with Miami is sure to turn a lot of frowns upside down. From the moment he officially entered the portal, Beck became the No. 1 transfer available in the country - he's also the No. 1 overall transfer recruit overall for '25 per 247Sports rankings, moving up ahead of John Mateer.
Now that Beck is officially Miami-bound, he's going to be facing plenty of pressure to live up to the massive expectations put on his shoulders. Of course, people are always going to bring up the $4 million he's going to presumably get for donning a Canes jersey in '25. Will he deliver for Cristobal and his staff? We can't wait to find out.
