In just one season, Carson Beck became one of the most loved Miami Hurricanes. The quarterback, who was a multi-year starter at Georgia, came into Coral Gables and led Miami to 13 wins and the CFP Championship Game, picking up trophies in the Cotton Bowl and Fiesta Bowl along the way.
Beck, who threw for 3,813 yards and 30 touchdowns for the Hurricanes last season, was selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the first pick of the third round (65th overall) and he is expected to compete with veteran Jacoby Brissett for the starting spot. The 24-year-old quarterback was recently at a local event in Arizona where he talked about his time at Miami and gave a shout-out to the Hurricane fans.

'"I'm forever grateful for all the love and support that not only me, but all my teammates and, you know, that team received," Beck said. "The way that we traveled to all these big games, to Ohio State in Dallas and all the way out here in Arizona. You saw all these fans travel all over the place. It was a really special year, and I'm super grateful. I'm really thankful."

It wasn't always perfect for Beck, but there was never a question about his desire to win, and he got better as the season went along. After a disappointing overtime loss to SMU, Beck put a greater emphasis on ball protection and threw 16 touchdowns and just three interceptions over the final eight games of the season.Â

The irony of Beck starting his pro career in Arizona is that he'll be playing in the same stadium where he had arguably his best moment in college football. Beck scored the game-winning touchdown in the Fiesta Bowl against Ole Miss to get the Hurricanes into the CFP championship game.

There's little question that the appreciation Beck for the 'Canes fans has been reciprocated, and they will be rooting hard for his success in the pro game. Beck brought a lot of maturity to a team that needed to learn how to win the big games. When he struggled, he was accountable and carried responsibility for the team's effort. With his surge in the second-half of the season, Beck also proved he could bounce back from those disappointments.
Beck's time at Miami should prove to be quite the lead in what is expected this season. The Hurricanes are no longer going to sneak up on anyone. This past season showed how close they are and the offseason showed how committed Mario Cristobal is to bringing in the pieces to get the program over the top. The Hurricanes are built to win a championship in 2026 and are expected to compete for one. The investments made in the offseason and the high-level recruiting from Cristobal and the staff have put Miami in position to get back to the top of college football.
