Malik Reneau is making a case that the ACC's best big man is playing in Coral Gables, even if the national conversation has not fully caught up yet. Miami's Indiana transfer dropped 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds Tuesday night as the Hurricanes opened conference play with a 76-69 comeback win over Pittsburgh. Miami is now 12-2 overall and 1-0 in the ACC.

College basketball analyst Jon Rothstein (CBS) pointed out how good — and underrated — Reneau is after that performance. He pointed to the performance against Pitt, and eventually the rest of the college basketball will notice how great Reneau has been at Miami.

Miami's Malik Reneau is a force on the court

Reneau scored his 28 points on 8-of-13 shooting and went a perfect 10 of 10 at the foul line. He is not just having a nice night or two. Reneau is putting up 20.4 points per game while shooting 59.2% from the field, numbers that put him among the more efficient high-volume scorers in the country.

Through 14 games, Miami is averaging 88.5 points per game, one of the best in the conference, with a scoring margin north of 20 points per game. Reneau is one of the biggest reasons for that, and you better believe he is making Jai Lucas' first season as head coach of Miami a lot easier.

Reneau is a 6-foot-9 Miami native who came home after three seasons at Indiana, bringing veteran experience with him. At Indiana he was a two-time All-Big Ten honorable mention and had over 1,000 career points in Bloomington. One of the biggest wins of the offseason was him coming to play for Lucas.

Miami's next game is Jan. 7 at Wake Forest, and if Reneau keeps putting up this kind of scoring and efficiency, it's going to get harder and harder to ignore.
