Darian Mensah is built for this.
The Miami Hurricanes quarterback says that his journey, which began at Tulane a few years ago, has helped shape a mindset that allows him to be fearless and confident enough to take on new challenges.

Mensah talks about going far away from his home in Southern California and adapting to a new environment without a built-in support system.
"My freshman year, being at Tulane, being far away from home. No family over there. Not a lot of friends. I had to go make a bunch of friends," he said. "I think that prepared my mindset and built it up to where it is today. Going out and being alone, taking on the world and having no fear is something that I think is super important for kids who want to grow."

The moments won't be too big for Darian Mensah
There's no question about Mensah's talent. He led the Power 4 in passing last year and finished with 34 touchdowns with just six interceptions. There isn't a metric in college football that doesn't suggest Mensah is anything but the real-deal. However, the only valid concern is how Mensah will handle the pressure of playing for Miami in a season where the Hurricanes are expected to compete for the CFP championship. Mensah did a lot of great things at Duke and won the school's first football conference championship in decades. But football at Duke is something to do until basketball season starts. The Miami fanbase is starved for championship trophies.

Mensah's mindset should eliminate a lot of those concerns. He knows what the task is this year, and he knows how important it is for the Hurricanes to be considered a true contender for the CFP championship. And along the way, I'm sure Mensah wants to end any further discussion of Miami never winning an ACC football championship. It's good for Hurricane fans to know that Mensah wants the smoke that comes with being the quarterback for a team where the expectations are through the roof.
The journey that Mensah has taken is evidence that he can quickly adapt to a new environment. He went across the country from California to New Orleans and again to North Carolina. Mensah has been successful everywhere he's gone, and he's won. That's why Mario Cristobal and Miami were willing to do whatever it took to get Mensah in a Hurricanes uniform. They know he has the mindset to win a championship.
