Disastrous Miami CFP outcome could arrive with Texas stunning Texas A&M

Yeah the SEC/ESPN alliance is at it again

Yep, you knew this was coming the minute Texas polished off their 27-17 win over Texas A&M last night.  The push to get the Longhorns in was going to start.

There were seeds planted for this happening two weeks ago in the final minutes of Texas being dragged up and down the field by Georgia, much like the Longhorns got dragged up and down the field by Florida back in October. Kirk Herbstreit, the No. 1 SEC troll, said the Longhorns deserved a discussion if ithey won out and now the discussion is happening.

The discussion with Texas should be quick

Here's how the "discussion" about Texas being in the playoffs should go:

"Well, they lost to 3-8 Florida."

Discussion over.

And Florida whipped them. Never trailed. Jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, led by as many as 15 and only a late Texas touchdown made the score look closer than the game was. I'm not going to disparage the Texas team. Heck I would take the Longhorns over Ole Miss if Lane Kiffin leaves.

But Texas and Miami have a common opponent... Florida. Texas lost to them badly, and the Hurricanes beat the Gators by 29 points. What are we doing here?

If Texas is chosen over Miami, cancel the sport

Again, I have respect for Texas. I respect the schedule. I respect the grind. They have great wins over Oklahoma and Texas A&M. Props to the Longhorns for salvaging a 9-3 season when things looked lost after the loss to Florida (notice how I keep mentioning that).

Miami had a pretty good schedule too. They beat Notre Dame, although the committee is acting like that didn't happen. And they played Florida early in the season, when we didn't know how bad the Gators really were. Even USF was ranked in the CFP top 25 for a week.

The Hurricanes have done their part and if they win today against Pittsburgh it's time to cut the garbage and give them the spot that they've earned. Either the season matters or it doesn't. If Texas really wants to get in the playoffs, don't lose three games.
