Miami has a lot of big games on the schedule for the 2026 college football season, but in reality, no game feels bigger than the matchup against Notre Dame on November 7. This is a rivalry and a matchup that fans look forward to every season, but after the events of the 2025 season, more fire has been added to this game.

Miami was the final non-conference champion to make the College Football Playoff, leaving the Irish out. It all came down to the Hurricanes beating the Irish during the regular season, a win that was more crucial than many thought it would be, and it allowed Miami to have a shot at making the National Championship game.

Even though the Hurricanes weren't able to finish the job in the Natty, it showed that head coach Mario Cristobal has built something special at Miami, and this offseason has continued to prove that.

As odds for some of the biggest games of the college football season start to roll out, fans will be looking to see who is favored, who is the underdog, and other betting odds. Miami and Notre Dame have their odds, and at this point, Cristobal has to feel like it is a slap in the face.

Miami comes in as a 6.5-point underdog in the matchup against Notre Dame, a team they beat by three points last season, which was the season opener for both teams. Miami made it to the National Championship, and while the Hurricanes lost some key pieces, Cristobal has worked to fill the holes in a major way.

Notre Dame didn't just sit around this offseason either. Marcus Freeman and the Irish have also worked hard to fill in the holes next season, but the real question is whether it is enough to get past Miami.

There was a lot of turmoil around Miami getting into the CFP over Notre Dame, and the Irish made their thoughts known loud and clear. The best thing is that the Hurricanes didn't have to kick and scream and use their words; they instead let their play on the field speak for them, hence making it to the National Championship.

The matchup in November is going to be a heated one, not just because of the rivalry, but it could be a deciding factor yet again about where these teams could fall in the CFP. A huge late game in the season like this could definitely affect a lot of things for the selection committee, and neither team will want to risk the loss.

Oddsmakers believe Miami will come out on the losing side, but they also believed Miami wouldn't make the National Championship last season.
