He may not be throwing at the 2025 NFL Combine, but there's no question that Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward is still impressing a lot of people in Indianapolis. Ward, coming off a record-setting season with the Canes, is turning a lot of heads due to his confidence during interviews.
While meeting with the press, Ward continued to showcase an unreal amount of confidence - and it's something he can back up too. There's no doubt in Ward's mind that he's not only the best quarterback for this draft class, but that he's the top prospect overall too.
With the Tennessee Titans up first with the No. 1 overall pick, will they listen to Ward and pick the star signal-caller? That's what a lot of people think the AFC South side should do, including ESPN analyst Jordan Reid. While on SportsCenter, Reid made it clear he thinks Ward should be the one to hear his name called first come draft night:
“Whenever Miami needed him to make a play he was able to do that, and there’s always a sense of hope with Cam Ward in games.”

ESPN's Jordan Reid thinks Cam Ward should be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft
"I think it's just the mentality that Cam Ward has," Reid said. "We're talking about somebody that's been an extreme underdog all of his career - he had to start his career in the FCS ranks with Incarnate Word and then transition to Washington State and finished up at Miami. The physical tools and the gifts he has - he's able to push the ball down the field when he wants to, you see the miraculous shortstop-like delivery from him. I just love everything about Cam Ward."
That's a glowing review from Reid, who is a big fan of what Ward is going to potentially get done at the next level. The Texas native was a stud throughout college, putting up video game-type numbers for the Hurricanes in 2024.
This past season, Ward tossed for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns. He was a pleasure to watch for the fanbase. The only negative for Miami, and it was a big one, was that the defense couldn't do much of anything right late in the year, which resulted in some brutal losses. Miami missed out on the CFP, which was a shame.
Ward did everything he could to help this team win, however, which is evident with him being in the No. 1 pick conversation. The Titans could pick Shedeur Sanders, Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter instead, but a smart and safe decision would be to rock with Ward. If that happens, Reid will be ready to applaud Tennessee for rightfully taking a chance on the Miami standout.
