There aren't many quality quarterbacks left in the transfer portal, but we now know where one former Miami Hurricanes QB is going to be playing college ball in 2025. That'd be Tyler Van Dyke, who left Miami to sign with the Wisconsin Badgers ahead of the 2024 season.

Things didn't go to plan for Van Dyke in Madison, as he suffered a torn ACL early on in the campaign. He ended up being one and done with the Badgers, announcing he was entering the transfer portal last month. For a while now, people were waiting to see where he'd head to next.

On Thursday morning, Van Dyke announced that he'll be suiting for SMU in 2025. It was a historic season for the Mustangs in 2024, as they booked their trip to the College Football Playoff and played in the ACC Championship Game. Now, Van Dyke will hope to make noise there, but keep in mind that SMU starter Kevin Jennings is coming off a huge year in '24:

Former Miami and Wisconsin QB Tyler Van Dyke has signed with SMU

In four seasons with Miami, Van Dyke, a four-star signee from the 2020 class, tossed for 7,469 yards and 54 touchdowns. He then made his way to Wisconsin, but he suffered a torn ACL in an early-season loss to Alabama. It was a heartbreaking injury for the veteran QB.

The door was left open for the former Miami starter to return to UW, but he opted to transfer instead and SMU will be his next stop. As for the Hurricanes and head coach Mario Cristobal, it's fully unknown who the squad's QB1 will be for '25.

Superstar Cam Ward is on his way to the NFL, with many projecting him to be the No. 1 overall pick ahead of Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. Emory Williams will get a serious look, but his performance in the Pop-Tarts Bowl has left plenty of people concerned.

There could be a late entrant to the portal Miami could go after (cough cough Carson Beck or Quinn Ewers), but we won't know about that until the CFP wraps up. With Van Dyke, he's going to help SMU keep pushing forward, but Miami's defense will be ready to make a statement when these two teams face off.
