Jordan Travis, the former Florida State quarterback and co-host of the "Travis Take Two" podcast, praised Miami's Carson Beck in a clip posted on X saying "Georgia was holding him back" after Beck threw four touchdown passes in the Hurricanes' 28-22 win at Florida State. The comment comes as Beck's performance and Miami's undefeated start has pushed him into early Heisman contention.

Beck was efficient and decisive in Tallahassee, completing 20 of 27 passes for 241 yards with two touchdowns each to Malachi Toney and CJ Daniels. Miami led 28-3 late in the third quarter before FSU's rally fell short in the fourth. The result kept the then-No. 3 Hurricanes perfect and handed the then-No. 18 Seminoles a second ACC loss. Since then, FSU dropped another game, this time to Pitt, and Miami is now ranked No. 2 in the country.
The former ACC Player of the Year retired from football in April because of lingering injury issues and now appears regularly alongside his brother, former MLB second baseman Devon Travis, on the podcast. Hearing the "holding him back" line was a nice nod to Beck's career arc. And it definitely means more coming from the former QB of a Miami rival.
The ex-Georgia starter committed to Miami on Jan. 10, less than 24 hours after entering the transfer portal, seeking a fresh start following an elbow injury that cut short his 2024 SEC title game. He has quickly meshed with Miami's offense and has exceeded expectations so far this season.
Travis isn't the only one noticing the improved play from Beck. There has even been some buzz around a potential draft rise for Beck from the NFL. But, he will need to finish out the year strong for it to materialize.
