Former Miami Hurricanes edge rusher Hayden Lowe is on the move and looking at a potential home in the SEC. Lowe, a five-star recruit out of the Los Angeles Metropolitan area, took a visit to Tennessee over the weekend.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound edge rusher was one of the centerpieces of Miami's 2025 recruiting class, but he missed his first year recovering from offseason surgery, and then things just never seemed to get on track for him in Coral Gables. After a ton of offseason hype, Lowe was not present for most of spring camp, and rumors followed that he was on the outs with Miami. Eventually, Mario Cristobal confirmed it without giving any details.
"The University of Miami and Hayden Lowe have parted ways, and we certainly wish him the best in his future endeavors," Cristobal said before the start of preseason training camp.

Lowe, who is playing at Long Beach City College this season, spoke in a video after his visit to Knoxville and talked about some big plans.
"The defense, [they] said they will rotate [defensive linemen] a lot, so it's going to take care of my body when I get to the league," Lowe said.
The league, eh? Mind you, Lowe hasn't taken a snap in college yet, but I am never one to knock someone's aspirations.
Miami and Hayden Lowe have both moved on
Despite a lot of hope from the fans, Lowe never did a single thing at Miami, so the Hurricanes didn't miss anything when he was dismissed. Sure, it would've been nice to have another long, explosive player coming off the edge in a year when that position was being restocked, but you can't truly miss what never existed.
Cristobal is never one to look backwards, and when he dismissed Lowe, that was the end of that chapter. The defensive line rotation is a little thin and could be perilously thin if Marquise Lightfoot has to miss an extended period of time after suffering an injury in Week 5, but the guys who are playing have shown great improvement from week to week and should continue to build on an excellent performance against Clemson.
Meanwhile, Lowe still looks like a million bucks off the hoof and has a very high ceiling if he can ever get on the field. Some team, whether that's Tennessee or not, will take a flyer in hopes of being able to benefit from his talent. The Hurricanes have a crop of young players from the 2025 and 2026 classes who will have the opportunity to show themselves this season and in the offseason camps. There's also the addition of five-star recruit Jaiden Bryant in the 2027 class.
These moves show that Cristobal and Miami have moved on and Lowe has as well.
