Miami forward Timotej Malovec has a new home. The 6-foot-8 Slovakian wing committed to Kansas State after one season with the Hurricanes, giving the Wildcats another frontcourt option as first-year coach Casey Alexander continues an aggressive roster rebuild.
Malovec played in 33 games for Miami in 2025-26, made two starts and averaged 4.2 points and 1.3 rebounds in 14.9 minutes per game. He has two years of NCAA eligibility remaining.

Kansas State lands former Miami forward Timotej Malovec
Malovec hit a season-high four 3-pointers in wins over Stetson, Southern Miss and ULM, scored a season-high 16 points against Southern Miss and posted a season-high seven assists against ULM.
Before arriving at Miami, Malovec played two seasons for Mega Superbet in the ABA League First Division. In 2024-25, he averaged 6.1 points and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 36.5% from 3-point range. He also has senior national team experience with Slovakia, averaging 8.7 points and 6.0 rebounds in the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers.
The Wildcats are coming off a 12-20 season and a 3-15 finish in Big 12 play, then made a coaching change in March by hiring Alexander away from Belmont on a five-year deal. Alexander inherited a tough spot in one of the country's best conferences, and the early weeks of his tenure have been about rebuilding the roster.
Kansas State has already added 7-foot-1 center JT Rock, Georgetown transfer Isaiah Abraham and Virginia Tech guard Jaden Schutt through the portal. Malovec also becomes the second international player on the roster alongside Serbian guard Andrej Kostic.
Once again, for Miami, the Canes will have a team that looks very different from the one that took the court in the year prior. But, also again, Jai Lucas has weathered the storm and brought in a package of impressive transfers that should help Miami improve next season.
