The NBA announced Monday that former Miami standout Kyshawn George, now a Washington Wizards forward, has been selected to compete in the 2026 Rising Stars game.

George was a one-and-done in Coral Gables in 2023-24, then went 24th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft when the Wizards selected him via a trade with the New York Knicks.

For Miami, George appeared in 30 games and started in 16, scoring in double figures 12 times. He averaged 7.6 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game, plus logged a team-leading 40.8% from 3-point range.

George is among the NBA Sophomores Player Pool, and he's averaging 15.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists this season. Georgia is also shooting 45.3% from the field.

George averaged 8.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists across 68 games in 2024-25. This season, he has a heavier workload and more is expected from the second-year man.

In Washington's win at Dallas on Oct. 24, George poured in 34 points on 11-of-15 shooting and buried 7 of 9 from 3-point range. That is one of his best games in the NBA.

The Rising Stars game is made up of a 28-player pool: 11 sophomores, 10 rookies and seven G League players. Assistant coaches across the league voted in the NBA rookies and sophomores, and the league office selected the G League group.

The format is changing again as well. The four teams will play a mini-tournament, with the semifinal games going to 40 points and the championship going to 25 points. The Rising Stars draft is set for Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. ET on Peacock, with Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady serving as honorary “coaches” for the three NBA-player teams. Austin Rivers will guide the G League squad.
