Francis Mauigoa is set to become the fifth Miami offensive tackle selected in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday. Mauigoa will join Vernon Carey Sr., Ereck Flowers, Bryant McKinnie and Leon Searcy. The NFL Mock Draft Database currently projects Mauigoa sixth in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Mauigoa would be the highest-selected offensive lineman ever from Miami if he is selected sixth or higher in the 2026 NFL Draft. Adam Schefter of ESPN provided an update earlier this week that a herniated disc Mauigoa has is not expected to hinder his status in the 2026 NFL Draft.
McKinnie is currently the highest-selected OL in the NFL Draft. The Minnesota Vikings selected McKinnie seventh overall in the 2002 NFL Draft. McKinnie played 179 NFL games with 162 starts over 12 NFL seasons with Minnesota, the Baltimore Ravens and the Dolphins.
McKinnie played his first nine seasons with Minnesota, spent two full seasons with Baltimore and five games in his third year, before finishing his career by playing 10 games with the Dolphins in 2013. Playing for Baltimore, McKinnie won Super Bowl XLVII and he was named to the Pro Bowl in 2009.

Carey Sr. was the 19th overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Dolphins. In eight NFL seasons, all with the Dolphins, Carey Sr. played in 121 career games with 107 starts. The Dolphins traded up one spot in the 2004 NFL Draft to select Carey.
Flowers was the ninth pick in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. In seven NFL seasons with the Giants, Washington, Miami and the Jacksonville Jaguars, Flowers played in 105 games with 101 starts at left tackle in his first four seasons and left guard in his last three.
Searcy was the first Miami first-round OL when he was selected 11th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1992 NFL Draft. In four seasons with Pittsburgh and five with Jacksonville, Searcy played in 126 games with 111 starts.
Searcy spent one season with the Dolphins and another with Baltimore in 2002 before retiring. Searcy played in Super Bowl XXX with Pittsburgh and was named second-team All-Pro during his penultimate season with Jacksonville in 1999.
Under head coach Mario Cristobal and OL coach Alex Mirabal, Mauigoa should be the first of many OL selected in the first round from Miami. As a five-star prospect in the 2026 class, Miami freshman OT Jackson Cantwell projects as a 2029 NFL first-round pick.
