Insider makes it seem like Miami and Mario Cristobal will land local 5-star WR soon

This would be huge for the Canes.

Leading up to spring football, it's hard to keep track of all the elite playmakers Mario Cristobal and Miami are making a strong push for. At receiver, there's a lot of attention on Monshun Sales, but there's another wideout fans are quite familiar with too.

That'd be elite talent Nick Lennear, who has not shied away at all in letting everyone know he's got strong interest in potentially playing for Miami. The 5-11, 165-pounder has an official visit lined up with the Canes for May 29 and Cristobal is hoping to land him then.

Well, could Lennear decide to shut things down before that? Per Rivals' insider Chad Simmons, the general feeling around the recruiting world is that it's only a matter of time until Lennear gives Cristobal and his Miami staff the news they're hoping for:

Miami appears close to landing 5-star WR Nick Lennear in the near future

"Just like (Mark) Matthews, Miami's been setting the pace in this race even longer," Simmons said in the video above. "I think a year-plus for Nick Lennear. People are just kind of waiting to see when does he commit to the University of Miami."

That's a pretty exciting update from Simmons. It's no secret that Lennear is a big fan of the Canes, as a video of him celebrating Miami's win over Ole Miss to reach the CFP title game went viral. That was the biggest hint yet that he was eyeing a future in Coral Gables.

Just like 5-star tackle Mark Matthews, Cristobal wants to keep Lennear close to home. The 5-star wideout, ranked the No. 14 prospect nationally for 2027 per the 247Sports Composite, is a playmaker for Miami Carol City High, which is a stone's throw away from the UM campus.

Throughout his recruitment, the youngster has picked up 21 offers, with Georgia, Florida State, Indiana and many others throwing a tender his way. At this time, though, all signs are pointing to him playing for Cristobal at the next level. No one knows when exactly he might commit, but it's surely something to watch out for once spring practices get under way.
