Guard Tre Donaldson from Michigan via Auburn, forward Malik Reneau from Indiana and center Ernest Udeh from TCU via Kansas to Miami through the transfer portal provide new head coach Jai Lucas with three players who all have experience playing in a power conference.
Donaldson was the first transfer to commit to Miami under Lucas. As the best perimeter player for Michigan in 2024-25, Donaldson started all 37 games while averaging 11.3 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists and shot 43.3 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from the field and 69.0 percent from the free throw line.
Donaldson has improved in each of his three collegiate seasons and had a huge increase in minutes every year. Charles Barkley bonded with Donaldson when he played for Auburn and called the point guard his favorite player in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Donaldson and Michigan were eliminated by Auburn.
Reneau averaged 11.4 points per game. 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 55.5 percent from the field, 26.0 percent on three-point attempts and 73.3 percent from the free throw line with a 55.8 percent eFG percentage in three seasons at Indiana.
Ernest Udeh Jr. has committed to @CanesHoops . Udeh, a former McDonalds All American from TCU will look to make an impact for the Hurricanes joining a loaded transfer class with Malik Reneau and Tre Donaldson. @MalikReneau @ernestudehjr @CerebroSports https://t.co/pAnEbcMubO

Miami beat out Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan and USC for the commitment from Reneau per On3. Donaldson, Reneau and Udeh also provide Miami with three players who were four-star high school prospects and as transfers. Lucas is already living up to his billing as an elite recruiter.
Udeh averages 4.6 points per game and 4.9 rebounds, shoots 65.2 percent from the field and 56.1 percent from the free throw line in his career. The 2024-25 season was the best for Udeh, averaging 6.6 PPG, 7.5 RPG and 1.2 assists while shooting 63.4 percent from the field and 59.8 percent from the free throw line for TCU.
Miami has the 13th best transfer class nationally and fourth in the ACC per the 247Sports rankings and Lucas is far from finished. Miami needs an entirely new roster. If Lucas continues to add four-star players as prospects and transfers from Power Conference schools, Miami should end up with the best 2025 transfer class.
