Tre Donaldson, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound guard from Tallahassee, Florida, has had a good collegiate career. He began at Auburn University, where he played two seasons. As a freshman during the 2022-23 season, Donaldson appeared in 32 games, averaging 2.5 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. His sophomore year saw increased responsibility, with 10 starts in 35 appearances, contributing 6.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game.
Donaldson transferred to the University of Michigan for the 2024-25 season. He became the starting point guard starting in all 37 games. Donaldson posted career-high averages of 11.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game, shooting 43.3% from the field and 37.5% from beyond the arc.
Before college, Donaldson was a standout athlete at Florida State University School in Tallahassee. He was a four-star prospect in football, ranked as the No. 23 safety nationally by 247Sports. In basketball, Donaldson led his team to a Florida Class 3A State Championship during his senior year, averaging 16.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.4 steals per game.
Donaldson's tenure at Michigan was marked by several clutch performances. In the 2025 Big Ten Tournament semifinal against Maryland, he scored a game-winning layup, sending Michigan to the championship game. His leadership and poise under pressure helped them make a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Donaldson is the second transfer for Miami during the new Lucas era. Yesterday, Miami secured the recruitment of Indiana transfer Malik Reneau. As of right now, guard A.J. Staton-McCray is the last remaining player for Miami from the 2024-25 season. Divine Ugochukwu entered the transfer portal yesterday.
