Jai Lucas landed a huge commitment on Wednesday from South Florida native Malik Reneau, who played the last three seasons for Indiana. Reneau was on Indiana when Miami eliminated the Hoosiers in the NCAA Tournament second round. Reneau posted his decision to X by saying, "I'm Coming Home. It's All About the U"
Reneau averaged 11.4 points per game. 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 55.5 percent from the field, 26.0 percent on three-point attempts and 73.3 percent from the free throw line with a 55.8 percent eFG percentage. Both out of high school and as a transfer, Reneau is a four-star prospect.
Reneau played 10 minutes and had an assist and a foul in the 85-69 Miami win over Indiana in the second round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Lucas now has a player on the front line to build around for the 2025-26 roster. Guards A.J. Staton-McCray and Divine Ugochukwu are the only players returning to Miami in 2025-26, tentatively.
The recruitment of Reneau happened quickly. Arkansas, Auburn, Miami, Michigan and USC were the finalists for Reneau on Monday, per On3. Reneau has one season of eligibility remaining per On3. Reneau was part of a mass exodus at Indiana, with the Hooisers losing their entire roster.

During the 2023-24 season, Reneau set career highs of 34 points versus Kennesaw State and 14 rebounds versus Ohio State in games Indiana won. Reneau was durable throughout his Indiana career, playing in 94 games in three seasons. Reneau projects as a starter for Miami in the inaugural season under Lucas.
