Former Indiana University forward Malik Reneau has narrowed his transfer options to five schools, with the University of Miami among the finalists. The other programs in contention are Arkansas, Auburn, Michigan, and the University of Southern California (USC).
During his junior season with the Indiana Hoosiers, the 6-foot-9, 232-pound forward started 19 of 26 games. He led the team with an average of 13.3 points per game, along with 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per outing. Reneau shot 55.2% from the field and 73.3% from the free-throw line. He reached double figures in scoring 19 times and recorded two double-doubles throughout the season.

Reneau entered the transfer portal on March 19, 2025, following the conclusion of the Hoosiers' season. His decision to transfer comes in the wake of Indiana's underwhelming performance and the mid-season resignation of head coach Mike Woodson. The Hurricanes offered him pretty quickly in hopes that the pull of Hialeah, FL — where he is originally from — would help.
The University of Miami's inclusion in Reneau's final list highlights the program's growing appeal to high-caliber transfers. Miami's coaching staff, particularly assistant coach Andrew Moran, who was affiliated with the Nightrydas Elite AAU program during Reneau's high school years, may play a pivotal role in the recruitment process. Reneau's familiarity with Florida, having attended Montverde Academy during his high school years, may also help the Hurricanes secure him.
As Malik Reneau deliberates his transfer destination, the University of Miami stands as a strong contender among a competitive group of programs. Miami played Indiana in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. In that matchup, Reneau was not able to score and recorded just one assist and one foul in 10 minutes of action. His decision could mark the first of many transfers for Coach Jai Lucas and his new coaching staff.
