Jeremiah Smith wastes no time ruining Miami fans' dreams he'll enter the portal

Yup, it looks like Smith is sticking with Ohio State.

It was fun while it lasted. On Friday, countless headlines were made when On3's Pete Nakos dropped a report that an unknown team put a $4.5 million offer in front of Jeremiah Smith for him to enter the transfer portal. Yeah, that still has a lot of people talking.

From that moment, plenty of Miami Hurricanes fans were hoping that Mario Cristobal and Co. were going to be ready to make a run at bringing in Smith to catch passes from Carson Beck in 2025. However, it doesn't look like Miami or any other team will have a chance to poach the freshman stud from the Buckeyes.

Shortly after the Smith news dropped, the wideout posted a short, yet clear message that he has no plans to stop suiting up for Ryan Day. Nope, it looks like he's going to keep putting on a show for the Buckeyes, the same team he just helped win a National Championship:

For a little while, people all over Miami were able to dream about Smith returning to his home state, but again, it's not going to happen. Last year, Smith was a 5-star prospect, ranked the No. 1 wideout in the country and No. 1 player overall for the 2024 class.

The Hurricanes were a finalist for him, but he ended up putting the pen to paper with the Buckeyes. In the College Football Playoff, Smith was nothing short of brilliant, looking electric in the wins over Tennessee and Oregon.

Then in the title game against Notre Dame, he reminded the country of how special he can be with the ball in his hands. He's a true gamer and a future Top 5 pick once he decides to go pro. Unfortunately, it's going to keep paining Canes fans to see him ball out for Ohio State and not Miami.
