Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt placed Indiana ahead of Miami in his updated top-10 after Week 7, elevating the Hoosiers to No. 2 and moving the Hurricanes to No. 3. Klatt is rewarding Indiana for their big road win at Oregon and calling it the best win in the country.

Indiana's case makes sense. The 30–20 victory at Autzen Stadium snapped Oregon's 18-game home winning streak and kept the Hoosiers unbeaten. Quarterback Fernando Mendoza threw for 215 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown, while Roman Hemby added two scoring runs as Indiana limited the Ducks to 81 rushing yards. That result, on top of the demolition of Illinois earlier in the year, has put Indiana in the category of serious national championship contenders.
Through seven weeks, Indiana is averaging 44.8 points per game (top-10 nationally) and allowing 11.3 (top-five), pairing a heavy run game (241.7 rushing yards per game) with one of the nation's stingiest defenses. Also, at no point in the game against Oregon, did Indiana look out-matched at the line of scrimmage.
Miami's resume, however, remains strong and many would say it is the best in college football. The Hurricanes are 5–0 with multiple big victories already in hand, including a season-opening 27–24 win over then-No. 6 Notre Dame, a 49-12 blowout win over then-No. 18 USF, a 26–7 decision over Florida, a 28–22 road win at then-No. 18 Florida State. Entering Week 8, Miami is averaging 35 points per game while allowing just 13.6, a top-10 scoring defense to this point.
""I know Miami fans think that I've got something against Miami. I really don't, but at this point, here's how it plays out: I've got a clear No. 1 that has to go No. 1, and then it becomes about resume. And when it comes down to resume, even though Miami's resume is very good, the best win in the country just happened on Saturday when Indiana went up and beat up on Oregon. "Joel Klatt on putting Miami at No. 3
The Associated Press Top 25 released Sunday kept Miami at No. 2 and moved Indiana up to No. 3. Ohio State remained No. 1.
