Joey Galloway has spent the last two weeks saying Notre Dame looks like the better team. On Selection Sunday, he blasted the decision to flip Miami ahead of the Irish in the final rankings even though neither team played on championship weekend.

CFP Committee flips Miami and Notre Dame

Miami ultimately landed the No. 10 seed, edging out Notre Dame for one the last at-large bis and drawing a first-round trip to No. 7 Texas A&M. Alabama grabbed the No. 9 seed, while Notre Dame was revealed as the first team out despite a 10-game winning streak to close the regular season.

On ESPN, Galloway argued that the flip made for very strange optics. He pointed out that the committee had a full rankings show on Tuesday but waited until Sunday to move the Hurricanes ahead. He was essentially saying that if the committee was going to swap two teams that didn't play, that change should have come in the midweek rankings, not at the last possible moment when everyone knew a playoff spot was on the line.

Galloway has been very vocal on the topic of Notre Dame-Miami for weeks leading up to Selection Sunday. Much of the college football world has joined the debate and it has truly engulfed the sport over the last few weeks.

Regardless of which side of the ND-Miami debate you might be on, Galloway makes an interesting point. But, at the end of the day, the committee avoided setting a dangerous precedent and chose to honor the head to head result from week one. The process seemed to be flawed, but the final decision was correct.

The Hurricanes are in the playoff for the first time and will play Texas A&M in College Station on Dec. 20, with a potential Cotton Bowl date against Ohio State waiting if they win.
