Are you still riding high over the Miami Hurricanes making yet another splash in the transfer portal and signing former Georgia quarterback Carson Beck? Mario Cristobal was able to strike again, with yet another superstar signal-caller on the way to Coral Gables.
Come next season, Beck will look to live up to the hype. With that said, it's going to take fans a little bit longer than they might have expected to see him start to gel with his receivers. Keep in mind that the signal-caller's campaign was cut short with UGA due to his serious elbow injury, which required UCL surgery.
According to 247Sports' Matt Zenitz, his sources are telling him that Beck isn't expected to practice during spring ball. However, the good news is that he's well on track to be ready to rock for OTAs in the summer and then of course be a full go for fall camp:
Carson Beck will be fully recovered from UCL surgery in time for fall camp
So yes, on one side it's a bit of a bummer that Beck won't be a full participant on the practice field for spring camp. However, he can still hit the ground running in learning the offense and studying up on the playbook.
That way once the summer gets here, he can take things to the next level in terms of building chemistry with his new wideouts, of course including C.J. Daniels, who also just transferred into the program. What will those two be able to get done this campaign?
Elsewhere, there's also plenty of buzz already that Miami might bring in another stud receiver for Beck once the portal opens up in the spring. Last offseason, Sam Brown left Houston to join Miami during that window.
We'll have to wait and see if Cristobal makes another splash at the position or not. Regardless, Beck will be the one running the offense for Cristobal and Co. and his elbow should be at 100 percent by the time Week 1 gets here.
