Malachi Toney is in the record books again.
The super sophomore didn't waste time showing off a magical connection with new quarterback Darian Mensah, catching 12 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns. Toney's 229 yards was a school record for a single game.
In a program with a storied history of wide receivers that includes Michael Irvin, Andre Johnson and Santana Moss, it's Toney that has a legitimate argument to be added to Miami's Mount Rushmore after just 17 games in a Miami uniform.

Toney is already in the record books for the Hurricanes after his remarkable freshman season when he led the country with 109 catches and set a school single-season record with 1,211 yards.
Malachi Toney puts his name on another Miami record
The former standout at American Heritage in Plantation, Florida has been a star since he arrived on campus at the start of 2025. Mario Cristobal said at first he didn't understand why Toney's peers in high school called him "Baby Jesus", but he would soon find out with the preseason All-American's performance on the field.
However, what Toney does on the field is just part of the process. Cristobal says the final product is the result of a refusal to be outworked by anyone.
"You could tell in spring, [he's] just different. I mean, what he does on a daily basis. He's never made the same mistake twice, and is so driven to be better," Cristobal said during ACC kickoff week in July. "He allows himself to be pushed and challenged. And he always seeks out the best DB. He always seeks out contact in the run game. He doesn't allow himself to be taken out or pampered or catered to. And that has had a tremendous impact in our locker room."
Toney didn't waste time with pleasantries on Friday night, and it was clear from the first snap that Stanford had no one that could cover him. His first catch was for 48 yards, and he added a 23-yard touchdown to end the drive. By the time Toney hauled in his third touchdown of the night, a 47-yartd bomb, the Cardinal secondary was simply asking for mercy.
